The Grape Vine - Wineracks wine blog

  1. What’s In Your Wine?

Some of you may have seen an interesting documentary aired on local TV on Mon night called “What’s in your wine?”. This highlighted some of the less desirable practices employed by a few wine growers (such as using refuse as fertilizer).

A counter response from the UK’s notable wine writer Jamie Goode can be read here

While this program was interesting, it is not a fair representation of the majority of growers and wine makers who follow sustainable farming and environmental practices. Most growers and wineries are at the forefront of sustainable farming to ensure you get a quality, natural product. There are few places in the world which have the clean & green reputation of New Zealand, and one of our top wineries; Two Rivers, is on the crest of this wave.

    Drink Green Drink Safe

Our Two Rivers & Black Cottage wines from Marlborough, New Zealand not only present some of the best value Kiwi wines in Hong Kong, but they are produced with a green ethic in mind by master wine maker David Clouston.

Dave’s  growers are now registered as sustainable winegrowers and the winery has also just received creditation as 100% sustainable, with all 2010 vintage wines from Two Rivers 100% sustainable.

You can read up on New Zealand’s push on sustainable wine growing at : http://www.nzwine.com/swnz/

Wine on the whole is one of our most natural hand made products, so don’t worry about this scaremongering. Drink wisely, live well and enjoy wine!
